I’m excited. One week from yesterday, I’ll be holding a copy of Donald E. Westlake’s final novel, The Comedy is Finished, in my hot little hands. All other functions will cease until I’ve read the thing from cover to cover.
It’s the last book from the master, and the first hardback produced by Hard Case Crime. (Correct me if I’m wrong on that last part.) I’m giddy with anticipation — simply can’t wait. I’ve written before that Donald Westlake is a literary god to me, and this year I get to read at least four more of his books that I’ve never read.
Next week it’s The Comedy is Finished. And then on my birthday, three of his Richard Stark novels are released — The Damsel, The Dame, and The Blackbird.
It’s going to be a good reading spring for me. I can’t wait.
