Today’s the day.
Gotta hit the second draft of the novel — and hit it hard. Gotta be ruthless in my editing. I’m more convinced than ever that this book is going to be published. I let my dad read the first draft of Prodigal over the weekend, which is a major step for me. My dad is the kind of guy who nitpicks everything — totally not afraid to criticize something (in fact nearly everything) his son has done.
Basically, he wasn’t going to tell me it was good if it wasn’t. So it was with a fair amount of nervousness that I handed the manuscript over to him. And he devoured it in two days. At the end, he brought the manuscript back to me and said, “I think it’s a good story, and it’s fairly well written. It needs to be polished, but I think if a publisher reads it, they will publish it.”
That’s high praise from my dad. Now let’s hope he’s right.
Time to get to work.
